Finally Head Trainer of the JCI Trainer course
Finally, I have recieved the credentials of being Head Trainer of the train-the-trainer course JCI Trainer . I have worked on this since May 2007, so I am pretty proud now!
The JCI Trainer course is a two day training course that develops new trainer talents for JCI.
Being the Head Trainer means being responsible for the overall quality of the training, including coaching the assistant trainers and ensuring that the course generates the desired outcome. I love this role, being able to help young, fresh trainer talent to develop.
This will mean even more traveling in JCI. And I do not mind!
Interested in attending one of these trainings? Join JCI - the worldwide federation of young leaders and entrepreneurs today!
JCI Presenter in Tartu, Estonia
Today the training takes place in Tartu in Estonia. This beautiful university city is dressed for a bicycle competition, the sun is shining from a clear blue sky and we are spending the full day inside. And we all enjoy!

In this picture we see Zanas, one of the assistant trainers (left), and the participants Ingrid and Marek. In the back, assistant trainer Aldis is preparing.

A smart team!

Tense participants eager to do their final presentation!

Jean the assistant trainer from Lithuania preparing his final module, and Harald, the training institute director in the back, preparing a report.

Coach to lead in Tallin
I am currently in Tallin, doing the Coach to lead training. The training teaches how to apply coaching technics to empower your team to create better results with more motivated team members.

This photo shows the second session, where the participants practice powerful questions.

This photo is from the third session, where the participants apply active listening skills.
Thank you JCI Estonia for inviting me and organizing this training!
On the radio
Today, I had the great opportunity to visit the largest radiostation in Norway to be interviewed about my nomination as the Most Outstanding Trainer Europe 2009. Was great fun, I got 7 full minutes!!!
You may listen to it here - it only makes sense if you understand Norwegian, I guess. It starts at aprox. 11 minutes.
Secret messages of love
This picture was sent me from Ieva Jaudzeme, JCI Latvia. It shows a wall dedicated to love, in Riga. The words says I love you in French, Latvian and Croatian. Only a part of the wall is visible in this picture.

This picture I took when running in Riga. It is from the docks, and this very afternoon there was a wedding taking place just on the left. I guess (can onlyone confirm?) that this was a message from the groom to the bride.
It seems to me that Latvians are very emotional and caring people. I love that! I know many people who could use some love, affection and care in their life.
Do your city have similar pictures? Do you notice these messages that are hidden in plain sight? Please post your comments and images below!
Training in Estonia
I am leaving for Tallin and Tartu in Estonia this week to do a couple of trainings. The trainings are organized by JCI Estonia.
In Tallin, I will conduct Coach to Lead, the leadership training where you learn how to use coaching techniques to motivate your team. In addition, I will be head trainer on JCI Presenter. In Tartu, I will also be head trainer on JCI Presenter.
The image is from the marketing JCI Estonia made. Thanks, guys! I am looking so much forward to coming back to Estonia!

Happy National Day to Norway
Today, May 17, is the Norwegian national day. We celebrate our independence, and our constitution from 1814.
This post is a tribute to the celebration of life and joy, with the Norwegian independence day as setting.
A proud 2nd grader waiting to walk in the streets!
All the inhabitants of the valley walking in the streets! Here, lead by the local police chief and the mayor.
The kids enjoy!
No celebration of the Independence day without a marching band!!
And - being in the country side, gunfights are part of the fun!
And so are pillow-fights!
Adding to the fun is limitless amounts of icecream, sodawater, hot-dogs and everything a kids heart can desire!
Being a parent gives this celebration a whole new dimension - watching your kids play, enjoy and have fun is priceless! Remembering the fun we used to have ourself simply adds to the joy of the day! If you ever visit Norway in May, try to make it around the 17th - as this is a hugely fun event!

How to get results from LinkedIn
Very often people ask me about how Facebook, LinkedIn and similar services are helping me in my business and personal life. I usually give some of the many examples of how I reach out to people, and how people find me on these tools.
When they hear about the success I have using such tools, they like to try themselves. Today, I have found a nice resource which describes how to gain great success from using LinkedIn. The same methodology and techniques apply to other tools like Xing, Viadeo and Facebook.
Happy reading!
Hacking your life!
As a security professional, I come across the term hacking pretty often. My preferred meaning of hacking is "...action to increase quality and/or achieve the wanted results, fast and easy".
And with that definition, Life Hacking is a term I truly love! Marc and Angel has this lovely piece on how you can hack your life to make it great!
I want to comment on a couple of the statements:
- Educate yourself until the day you die. – The time and energy you invest in your education will change your life. You are a product of what you know. The more knowledge you acquire, the more control you have over your life.
IMO, only when you seek continuous improvement and learning are you truly alive. The more you read, learn, experience, the richer your life is. Next time you switch on the telly, do yourself a favor and shut it down again and read a book!
- Take good care of your body. – Your body is the greatest tool you’ll ever own. It impacts every step you take and every move you make. Nourish it, exercise it, and rest it.
Love your body! Enjoy it! Take care of it as if it is the most important asset you will ever acquire! Because it truly is! And the joy you can get when you body do your bidding!
- Mix it up. Try different things. – Seek as many new life experiences as possible and be sure to share them with the people you love. After all, your life’s story is simply a string of experiences. The more experiences you have, the more interesting your story gets.
This goes with the first point - educate yourself. I often try to go outside of my boundaries - you know, to try something new, that makes me feel a bit awkward in the start. The more I explore and cross my boundaries, the better I start feeling. And the more I learn! And enjoy!
- Be here now. – Right now is the only moment guaranteed to you. Right now is life. Don’t miss it.
I meet so many people on my way - and most importantly, I used to be one of them - that are too busy with their jobs, family, hobbies, TV...you name it; that they do not live. They complain about never having time to do what they really want. They spend their days running around, putting out fires, or perhaps just laying flat out in front of the TV the whole evening. Like they are putting off living for a later moment. Perhaps the weekend, the vacation - or even for retirement?
I live now. I want all the joy of living. Now. All my actions are driven by my urge to live NOW. I much rather experience pain, knowing that I am alive, living and are able to feel the pain, than just shutting off my senses and emotions, watching some stupid show on the TV while I am waiting to live some other day.
I would love to hear your input on this. What are the most important step you take to live your life? What are the obstacles you experience? How do you motivate yourself? How do you hack your life?

How to find your Amazing work!
Those who know me, usually describe me as happy, motivating and inspiring. And some ask how I can be like that all the time. Well, I believe it is because I take the time to enjoy life, and because I focus on doing things I care about. I spend much time doing my "Amazing work".
If you'd like to know how you too can get your amazing work going, you will find tips in this article (http://zenhabits.net/2009/04/how-to-find-your-amazing-work/) by Zen Habits!
Enjoy the reading, and happy day!

In love!
I am in love!
In love with life! Living my dream certainly helps too!
Being in a fancy restaurant, where the waiters are so clueless about service that even lousy service would be an improvement, aint taking me down. The iPhone dictionary replacing evertthing I write with stupidity will not stop me being in love!
I mean, imagine you write with, and iPhone change it to sith - every time!
Enjoying life is vital to me. I need to feel alive (not alice, as iPhone want). Running in the morning looking at people on their way to their cubicle is something i enjoy much. Not looking at those poor bastards, but knowing I feel alive every single moment!
The hurting in my lower legs as my muscles start telling me to stop harassing them. Stiffening so badly I can hardly move, forcing me to slow down. This pain reminds me that I am alive, and that I am lucky enogh to live the way I want.
And like now. I praise the spring in Oslo, on the sidewalk, enjoying a beer in the cold as the sun has left the party. I feel the lack of heat. I choose to stay outside, almost shivering, enjoying the feelings the beer and the cold inflicts on me.
I am alive! I praise life! I praise living!
How can I not be in love in such a lovely life?
