Lithuanian report

As you may have noticed, I was away last weekend. I where in Lithuania, participating at the JCI National Congress of Lithuania. It was a great experience, and I learned a lot!

I arrived Thursday, and where picked up on the airport by Zanas Gongapsevas. He drove Marju Raadik-Kantsik and myself down to Druskininkai, the city where the conference where. We checked in at an old, Soviet style Spa, where you still could feel the communists in the walls. It was a great experience to visit and live in a place that used to be reserved for the hot-shots in the cold war era.

Friday where spent on JCI Presenter, the Public speaking and presentation training from JCI. 13 participants enjoyed the training, and the two assistant trainers did a tremendous job! No challenge at all being a head trainer!

Saturday I spent on the English speaking trainings (I do not speak Lithuanian...I know that may come as a shock to you...pun), and Marju gave an interesting training on how to organize your e-mails. Before I went there, I thought I had loads of e-mails (150/day), but there where one guy there who said he averaged 1 000 e-mails per day. Poor bastard!

Caoch to Lead trainingDemonstratingThen it was time for Coach to Lead. There where 18 participants, all who did a great job learning how to use coaching techniques to lead their team.  It was great fun to do this training in English for the first time, and as usual, I where nervous. I actually left out parts of the training because of the nerves playing my mind. That is when it is very useful to remember that

"They do not know what you are going to say. So they will not know if you leave something out"

as I constantly tell trainers I mentor.

Enjoying gala! The rest of that evening I spent at the Gala & awards dinner, enjoying lovely food, great live music and dancing. I guess you can tell by the pictures I did enjoy!

Boat
Sunday I spent on a boat trip with JCI Lithuania.

The saintsWe went to a nearby monastery, and thankfully I had a great guide who translated everything for me!

All in all, this weekend was a real energy booster for me! I made loads of new friends, and I had great fun! I even had Zeppelins for dinner!
